The writer reveals to you
The book documents the extensive stalking of Jože Pučnik from 1958 to 1990. The Slovenian secret political police (ponarodelo) Udba stalked Pučnik as part of their treatment of Pseudo-Marxists, i.e. as a Pseudo-Marxist. The Udba detained him in October 1958 for his participation in the magazine 57. This was followed by a trial and a long-term prison sentence. He was released on parole in June 1963, but due to his participation in the magazine Perspektive, he had to return to prison in May 1964. In April 1966, he served his criminal sentence. The Udba also supervised him in prison. He then went to West Germany and became a professor at the University of Lüneburg. He occasionally returned to his homeland and of course, at that time, our secret police were again actively stalking him, especially when he began to collaborate with Nova revija. Because of the article in the famous 57th issue of Nova Revija, the regime also considered re-trialing Pučnik. In 1989, he retired as a professor in the Federal Republic of Germany and returned permanently to his homeland. Here he became the commander of the “independence” Demos. That is why the title of the book already describes Jože Pučnik as a giant of Slovenian independence!
